Always nice to belong to a group, even if this is a bit different from the usual forums I post on. I'm a Dutch guy, 41 years old and living in Singapore. I'm lucky to have quite a mild variant of CMT that hasn't caused a lot of trouble so far. In fact, I totally forgot about it untill a few weeks ago when I suddenly started to fall down for no reason. My father is in a more advanced stage and I remembered that my cousin did some research on CMT after she was told she's never leave a wheelchair again. Luckily she found an iriscopist that recommended acupuncture and she's walking again.

Where would we be without Wikipedia? My wife has always teased me about my "strange feet" which show the classic CMT symptoms. She even asked me if the picture on the Wiki CMT page was my foot :lol: Anyway, apart from leg and foot cramps (worse because of AC at night) and the dead feeling in my legs which makes driving long distances difficult, I don't have a lot of problems. I wonder if issues with swallowing fal in the CMT category? Still, I hope the symptoms aren't getting worse so I'll keep an eye on this forum to know what to look out for.

I have cmt type 1a and have a strange walking gait and drop foot.

CMT seems to vary from folks to folks.

I too can choke very easily . Even with my own spit!!.

Yes swallowing can be a symptom of CMT.

I lived in Singapore for a few years... in Henderson Cresent. My sisters are Singaporean. It is lovely there. How is it now? Hope it's as lovely as when we were there... the monsoon season was always my favourite time. :D

Hi all, thanks for the welcome. Just got back from my honeymoon so it took a while to reply. It's still lovely in Singapore although my wife doesn't like the heat that much (she's from Beijing). Oh, AC means air condition :D
